June 2020-As we all navigate the challenges of daily life and adapt to the new normal presented to us by the COVID-19 pandemic, one thing remains the same: mosquito control continues to be essential.

While COVID-19 is not transmitted by mosquitoes, they can transmit several other diseases such as West Nile virus, a mosquito-borne disease that has impacted the lives of California residents since 2003.

With the warmer weather we are beginning to see an increase in mosquito populations as well as requests for service from the public. As our counties begin to open back up and restrictions are lifted, we continue to find ways to maximize the safety of our staff and the public when responding to service requests. Our vector control technicians will continue to wear protective facial coverings and practice social distancing when out in public and while conducting inspections at your home.

Please remember that mosquito control is a responsibility that we all share. Keeping your home free of containers holding stagnant water, stocking permanent water features with mosquitofish, and reporting mosquito issues can decrease mosquito populations and lessen the risk of mosquito-borne disease in your communities.
