Yellowjacket School
Students learn about the life cycle and biology of yellowjakets in order to understand how they can keep themselves safer from them. They also learn how to avoid confusing them with other local stinging insects that are beneficial.
Lower grades are shown genuine yellowjacket and bee specimens during the classroom visit, and are provided with activity booklets to take home.
3rd-6th grade presentations include a multi-day loan of a life cycle kit that includes a real yellowjacket nest, a stinging insect collection, and life cycle story wheel and are provided with activity books that accompany the kit. (This hands-on resource is 100% ready to go and is great for learning centers or as a choice time acitivity!)
